OKTOBERFEST

Fall Seasonal

We brew Oktoberfest in tribute to the world’s biggest beer party. Vienna and Munich malts produce the deep golden color, nutty undertones, and toasted malt flavors characteristic of this renowned Bavarian beer style. Perle hops imported directly from the Hallertau region of Germany give the beer a smooth balanced finish. This celebratory lager puts the ‘fest’ in the month of October.

What started as a community celebration of a royal Bavarian wedding in 1810 has turned into a beer tradition like no other. Over 16 days each fall, some 6 million people head to Munich, don lederhosen and funny hats, gather in enormous tents, and drink oversized steins of beer. We brew this beer true to the original style so you can enjoy some Oktoberfest cheer from the other side of the planet.

“Bubbly brassy brew, decent sized crown of head. Bready caramel aroma with some grassy hops. Crispness pops under the moderate sized body to bring on a refreshing smoothness. Grassy, biscuity, bready, animal feed, faint caramel ... Dry maltiness. Hopping is there with a slightly sharp edge and herbal flavor. Clean malty finish. A good run at the style, very drinkable. -Jason Alstrom, Founder of BeerAdvocate.com

“Top of the crop. I fell for the Karl Strauss Oktoberfest as soon as I smelled it: richly malty, with a hint of honey on the nose, this beer is pretty big-boned. I tasted buckwheat, Smacks cereal, and graham crackers, plus a bit of mustiness. Don't expect West Coast-style hops out of this San Diego brew; the crisp hop bitterness is classic German-style, and the finish is quite clean. Pair this belly-filling beer with pork chops and cabbage.” -Maggie Hoffman, SeriousEats.com

“The really good news, Oktoberfest is back. Fittingly, Oktoberfest is the Fall Seasonal Brew, though, again, you will wish you had some in January.”
-Christopher Schmidt, SD Examiner
