This ale's firm toasted malt and roasted nut flavors are underpinned by a hint of vanilla that comes from aging the beer on French oak. Belgian ale yeast adds a peppery, fruity character to the beer’s slightly dry and warming finish, making it perfect for the (kind of) cold Southern California winter.
Zoe’s nitrite-free Coppa Salume & Genovese Salami, Point Reye’s Blue, Cypress Grove Humboldt Fog, Grafton Aged Cheddar, dried figs, candied pecans, apple slices, red radish, and sourdough bread. Fullsuit’s Belgian flavors complement the salty sliced meats, while the beer’s toasted malts bring out the nuttiness in the cheeses. Crunchy pecans and crisp apples help cleanse the palate and highlight Fullsuit’s peppery character

Opening in February of 1989, Karl Strauss Downtown became the first brewery to open in San Diego in more than fifty years. Located blocks from San Diego’s city center, this historic brewery location is where Master Brewer Karl Strauss brewed the first batches of his namesake Amber and our World Beer Cup and Great American Beer Festival medal-winning Red Trolley Ale. The original onsite microbrewery remains in full operation, consistently producing a series of rotating special release brews to pair with our West Coast pub fare. In addition to our drink beer, think food approach to beer and food pairing, Karl Strauss Downtown features 10 craft beers on tap, brewery tours, and a knowledgeable staff of craft beer enthusiasts.
