“If they take my stapler I’ll set the building on fire”

Milton, we feel you. Replace that red Swingline stapler with a fresh pint and you’ve got the #1 reason we haven’t burned OUR building down. Luckily for us, we won’t be running out any time soon thanks to a recent collaboration with our pals at Knee Deep Brewing Company up in Auburn, CA.

They’ve been purveyors of hop forward brews that rank among the best in the Golden State for years now and we’ve always been big fans. Thankfully they were smitten with how we slang lupulin as well and our Brewmaster Paul made the long journey up the 5 straight to their brewery to craft a special release that we’re proud to premiere on the hoppiest of holidays, National #IPADay (held annually on the first Thursday of August, this year falls on 8/4).

The resulting liquid is a hoppy India Red Ale that showcases flavors of pine, peach, and citrus and is finished by a crisp red-malt hoppy backbone. Five additions of the experimental 07270 hop  throughout the boil lend the beer the unique qualities of ripe peach, apricot, and mango and set it apart from the more traditional “3 C’s IPA’s” we’re known for on the West Coast.

Sitting comfortably at 7% ABV and a pleasant 55 IBU’s, “Red Stapler” will satisfy the most ardent hop heads while maintaining a perfect balance of refreshing bitterness for entry level drinkers.

And where can you find it? Well, here in San Diego we will have it available at our Main Brewery & Tasting Room as well as all of our brewpub locations. Of course, since the big debut happens to fall on National #IPADay we think you’d be making a huge mistake by not ordering up a hoppy flight of our bitterest beers to compliment your “Red Stapler”. We’ll have 4 available, including Aurora Hoppyalis, Mosaic Session IPA, Tower 10 IPA, and Big Barrel IIPA. As always, be responsible and imbibe with care while giving thanks to the almighty hop.
