Karl Strauss and Bike Dog Release Collab Beers for Sacramento Beer Week

San Diego, CA — May 2018 Karl Strauss Brewing Company and Bike Dog Brewing have joined forces to release a double collaboration brew for Sacramento Beer Week. Brite Lights and Fog City are India Pale Ales with the same base recipe—one a filtered IPA, and the other an unfiltered, hazy IPA.

The team of brewers from the San Diego-based Karl Strauss and the Sacramento-based Bike Dog breweries came up with the base recipe together and each hosted a brew day at their home facilities. They used a new hop on the scene, which was just called HBC 438 at the time but has since been given the name Sabro due to its overwhelming success.

The Bike Dog brewing team traveled south to brew Brite Lights, the filtered version, at the Karl Strauss 4S Ranch satellite brewery in San Diego. KARL Head Brewer Sean Albrecht, who just earned a World Beer Cup medal for his small batch Farmhouse brew, took lead on the brew from the Karl Strauss team and joined the Bike Dog crew at their Sacramento brewery to brew Fog City, the hazy IPA version.

Both brews showcase the citrus and tropical flavors of West Coast hops and notes of juniper, each with a light malt profile and a crisp, clean finish.

“It’s always fun getting your hands on a new hop and experimenting with different brewing techniques. Both of the brews came out great and we’re looking forward to their release!” –Sean Albrecht, Head Brewer, Karl Strauss Brewing Company

Brite Lights and Fog City will both be released for Sacramento Beer Week, which begins on Thursday, May 10th and runs through Sunday, May 20th. Fans can find both brews pouring in craft beer bars throughout Sacramento.
