What do the beer stats on your website mean?
ABV- Alcohol by Volume, a standard measure of how much alcohol is contained in an alcoholic beverage, expressed as a percentage of total volume. A light lager typically falls in the 3-4% range, while a barley wine can be from 9-11% or even higher.

SRM- Standard Reference Method, a scale used to classify the color of beer. Beer color ranges from the almost colorless (2-3) American light lagers to the almost black (30-40+) stouts and porters.

IBU- International Bitterness Units, a system of indicating the hop bitterness in finished beer. A light American lager may have around 10 IBUs, an English mild ale around 20 units, an India Pale Ale 40 or higher, an Irish stout 55 to 60 and barley wine 65-85.

GRAVITY- The amount of sugar in a beer measured in degrees Plato. The more sugar indicates higher alcohol levels and more body in the beer.

I live in Oakland/Omaha/Osaka and I can’t find your beer anywhere! Where is Karl Strauss beer available?
Because we’re a small local craft brewery, you can only find our beer in Southern California – as far North as San Luis Obispo and as far East as the Inland Empire. As a growing brewery in an expanding industry, we look forward to the day when our beers will be more readily available in your neck of the woods. In the meantime, we hope you’ll support your local brewery until you can enjoy another Karl Strauss beer. Cheers!

I am a beer souvenir collector and would like a Karl Strauss bottle cap, coaster, etc.
We love free stuff and would be stoked to give away free beer and merchandise to the masses. However, this isn’t a dream world, Neo. With the number of requests we receive for coasters, stickers, labels, caps, et cetera, it would be impossible to keep up with the demand. If you would like some Karl Strauss souvenirs, visit any of our Brewery Restaurants or one of our awesome events.  Karl Strauss merchandise can also be purchased via this website.

How do I get Karl Strauss to donate to my event?
Every year, we support hundreds of community events around Southern California. Due to the large volume of requests we receive, we ask that you fill out an online donation request form. All donation requests must be for non-profit events ONLY and that the non-profit must be willing to obtain a 1-day liquor license for the event. Submissions must be made at least 6 weeks in advance.

How do I get my band to play at Karlfest or Beach to Brewery?
We love and support local music! Please send Melody a link to your band’s website or send a demo to: Melody at 5985 Santa Fe Street, San Diego 92109.

Can I get a tour of your main brewery?
We are currently in the process of expanding our brewery and installing a bottling line, so we are not quite ready to host tours. But once we are done with construction, we will let you know when we can bring folks by to check out the new digs.

What are the nutritional facts for any of your brewery restaurant menu items?
While we do not have the nutritional analysis broken down by menu item, we can guarantee that our food is not pre-prepared, but is cooked when you order it, and with only the freshest ingredients. Should you have certain dietary needs, please do not hesitate to address your concerns with your server at an of our brewery restaurants. He/She will be happy to give you information about our ingredients or cooking methods and will help you to modify any dish to accomodate your needs.

Can I get the recipe for one of your menu items?
We'd love to tell you what makes our dishes so special, but unfortunately, they’re our chef's jealously guarded recipes - and you know how protective chef's can be of their signature dishes!
