Karl Strauss Brewing Company partnered up with the Surfrider Foundation 5 years ago.  Since one of our company’s core values is to care for our community and our environment, Surfrider is a natural fit for us.  In their own words,”The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education.”   We like that.  Beyond monetary donations of over $55,000, we have taken Surfrider’s causes to heart and implemented several environmental improvements to our events.  
 
Take our last major event - Beach to Brewery held last May at our San Diego Brewery - we worked with a company called Hands On to divert 50% of the trash to recyclables.  (We’re definitely doing that again at Karlfest.)  In addition to the improved recycling plan, Karl Strauss employees went coastal and cleaned up Mission Beach.
 
With Karlfest, we have an opportunity to grow our relationship with the Orange County chapters of Surfrider.  We are very excited that this event will directly benefit two local chapters of the Surfrider Foundation--the South Orange County and Newport Beach chapters.  We look forward to helping spread the word and raise awareness for Surfrider through this event!
