This year’s KARLFEST was a huge success. We put our spin on a classic Oktoberfest and had a great time doing it. There were 9+ beers on tap, 7 specialty firkins, and delicious food grilled up by our very own chefs. We kicked off the festivities with the tapping of an Oktoberfest firkin--the crowd got sprayed and our Brewer Adam got a good laugh. Our 1st Annual Homebrew Competition went well and we are proud to be working with the 1st place winner Matt Morrison on recreating his wining Rauchbier for our restaurants and the Great American Beer Festival Pro Am! There was also an incredible local lineup of music that kept the crowd entertained--special thanks to The Apes of Wrath, The Swedish Models, Transfer, and Dirty Sweet for putting on an awesome show. Thank you to the San Diego Brewers Guild for serving up the San Diego Uncommon beer and hanging out with us all day! And finally, thank you to everyone who came out to the event and helped support the Karl Strauss Brewer's Education fund .
For the Homebrew Competition
the winners are...
1. Matt Morrison -- German Rauchbier
2. Jon Peterson -- Kolsch
3. Earl Itrich -- Coconut Porter
4. Ken Schmidt -- Weisenbock
5. Barry Wayne -- High Desert Alt (alt bier)
Congratulations! |
