A: Black’s Beach Extra Dark because it has huge amounts of flavor for such a light beer.

A: San Diego soul.

Q: What is your favorite thing about living in San Diego?
A: San Diego always has the perfect beer drinking climate.

A: Pouring myself another one.

A: Karl Strauss Beer-Pintail Pale Ale, it is one of the best pale ales on the market today.

A: I love to create beers that everyone enjoys.

A: Spending time with my beautiful wife Jennifer and my two kids, Jack and Audrey.

Q: What is your favorite Karl Strauss beer and why?
A: We make so many awesome beers it’s hard to say but the Wreck Alley imperial Stout whoa. Amazing chocolate coffee aromas and nuances followed by superb malty backbone makes this a truly amazing beer.

Q: What is the secret ingredient?
A: I’d like to think that the ancient Annunaki really loved beer and somehow instilled the knowledge of brewing into the human culture thousands of years ago.  The reality is that passion, integrity, and the sense of providing happiness to many one pint at a time is what makes beer so special.

Q: What inspired you to brew?
A: Definitely growing up in San Diego has molded my appreciation for craft beer and brewing. Mainly my two older brothers and close friends were the ones who introduced me to “craft beer.” Breweries have an awe inspiring quality to a lot of people, once you walk in you smell the wort boiling, there’s so much going on you see all the beautiful tanks and machinery one can’t help but gravitate towards something like that.

Q: When you are not drinking beer what are you doing?
A: Usually my free time involves me driving all over the place with a drum set in the back of my car playing with my bros in Stranger Band.

A: Cooking up some grub or maybe playing some Frisbee golf.

A: Attended San Diego State University for Geography with an emphasis in Geographic Information Systems.

A: My favorite Karl Strauss beer is Double Dry-Hopped Pintail because regular Pintail is probably the best American Pale Ale on the market and Double Dry-hopped off a cask just gives it amazing floral and citrus aromas that make it just that much better.

A: Love for the craft, cleanliness in every process and a beard.

Q: What is your favorite thing about living in San Diego?
A: I can ride my bike to work year-round and it’s hard to complain about the amazing selection of award winning breweries.

A: Going to concerts, making music with some friends and riding my sweet neon fuchsia fixie.

A: Fullsuit - it has great flavor, good balance and enough character to keep it interesting.

Q: What is the secret ingredient?
A: Yeast Relationships. People may not know this, but we actually talk to the yeast everyday to make sure they're all happy and comfortable. That’s what makes our beer so special. We're like Yeast Whisperers in addition to Brewers.

Q: What inspired you to brew?
A: After having a handful of brews one night, I had a vision. I wanted to make the world a happier place, so I decided it was my destiny to bring delicious beer to the people. My memory is a bit hazy but I’m pretty sure that’s how it happened.

A: Enjoying sunsets, doing yoga, listening to classical music and adopting puppies.
